As I write this, I’m very aware of the uncertainty swirling around the potential government shutdown set to go into effect tonight at midnight should Congress not pass a spending bill. My husband is a federal employee, and I have many clients, friends, and family members who are also federal employee families deeply affected by this waiting game. It’s heavy, and I know many of us are holding our breath.
If the shutdown does happen,
I want you to know this: I am committed to doing what I can to support you. That means revisiting not only my holiday mini sessions for families, but also my wedding and elopement photography packages. I’ll be reaching out to my studio and location partners as well, to explore how we can create affordable photography sessions that fit this season. This is my small way of offering government shutdown support for families in our community.
This season would directly affect my household too, and I know firsthand the ripple effects it can have. That’s why it matters so much to me to create options that honor your budget and still allow you to celebrate and capture life’s most important moments. Photography may feel like a “luxury” in seasons like this, but I believe capturing joy, connection, and family is even more important in times of stress. It’s a reminder of what we have to hold onto—and another form of supporting families during shutdown that I can give.
For those planning weddings or elopements
Please know that I’ll also be revisiting those photography packages to ensure you don’t have to put your love story on hold. Whether it’s photography on a budget or a creative solution with payment plans, my goal is to walk with you through this season.
I also want to acknowledge—this isn’t easy for any of us. The unknown is hard. But I believe in the power of community, of prayer, and of choosing to stay positive even when circumstances feel heavy. My family and I are keeping you close in our thoughts and prayers as we watch how today and tonight unfold.
If you’d like to stay updated quickly and directly, I’ll be sending information through my email list before I post on social media. You can join here: Sign up for updates.
No matter what happens, know this—you’re not alone in it. We’ll face the waiting together, with hope in our hearts. And if my small contribution of adjusting sessions and packages can offer a little local family photography support and government shutdown support for families, then that is something I’m honored to do. 💛
